ABOUT DR. BLUM

Charles L. Blum, DC, CSCP is in private practice Santa Monica, California since 1981 and is a graduate of Cleveland Chiropractic College – Los Angeles.

He is an adjunct research faculty at Cleveland Chiropractic College and associate faculty at Southern California University of Health Sciences, teaching cranial biodynamics and cranial technique. Dr. Blum teaches the sacro occipital technique (SOT) elective class at Palmer College of Chiropractic West and Southern California University of Health Sciences.  Dr. Blum is a Certified Sacro Occipital Technique Cranial Practitioner, and has been on the peer review board of the Journal of Craniomandibular Practice (CRANIO)Journal of Pediatric, Maternal & Family Health ChiropracticChiropractic Dialogues: The Journal of Philosophy, Principles & Practice of ChiropracticAnnals of Vertebral Subluxation ResearchJournal of Upper Cervical Chiropractic ResearchAssociation of Chiropractic College Conferences, and Journal of Chiropractic Medicine.

He has lectured nationally and internationally, chair of the annual SOT Research Conferences, has written various SOT related texts, compiled SOT and cranial related research, and extensively publishes in multiple peer reviewed indexed journals and at research conferences from 1984 to the present. Dr. Blum is the past president of Sacro Occipital Technique Organization (SOTO) – USA, now their research chair, as well as the SOTO-USA representative to the Alliance of TMD Organizations and actively co-treating TMJ patients with dentists.  He is a Senior Clinical Instructor in the Cranial Facial/TMJ Clinic with in the ENT Department at the White Memorial Medical Center in Los Angeles, California.

Dr. Blum has had an eclectic background from exploring psychotherapeutic methodologies with Ruth B. Coppage, PhD in 1973-93, to studying meditative techniques using biofeedback devises as outcome assessment tools with Jack Garris in the 1970s, as well as teaching structural therapeutics at the California Acupuncture College in West Los Angeles in the early 1980s.  During the early 1980s Dr. Blum worked with Major Bertrand DeJarnette, DC, DO, the developer of Sacro Occipital Technique, and would routinely take clinical notes for Dr. DeJarnette and assist him when he was treating patients for cranial therapeutic interventions in Los Angeles.

Dr. Blum is an avid athlete and has had experience with running, gymnastics, Pilates, yoga, rock-climbing, basketball, swimming, martial arts (Shotokan Karate) and many other exercise adventures.  These wonderful adventures (or injuries he personally sustained) have taught him personally how to treat many athletic injuries and develop novel individualized rehabilitative programs for patients.
